No worry about access to family doctors on Manitoulin

In a study released in August 2005, and highlighted on the front page of publications like the Toronto Star, Manitoulin Island was ranked as being the region with the most doctors per capita in the entire province!  The study also looked at the change in the number of doctors in each region from 1994 to 2002, finding that Manitoulin Island had gained 5.2% more full-time doctors in that time.

The study was conducted by The Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES). An internationally-recognized, independent research group in existence since 1992.  The study was intended to investigate the supply of doctors in Ontario as well as the relevant government policies affecting that supply.

To read the study yourself, click here and the Adobe pdf file will open in a new window.  You can search the file for Manitoulin by clicking on the binoculars above the text.
